Former Spanish motorcycle world champion Angel Nieto, 70 years old, died Thursday following a quad crash, announced MotoGP on his website.

“The legend of motorcycling Ángel Nieto unfortunately died at the Polyclinic Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Ibiza,” wrote MotoGP. He was the victim of a 26 July accident with a passenger vehicle, on a roundabout on the island of Ibiza.
