Ancelotti rejects the position of Italy coach, according to the press
Carlo Ancelotti remains seated on the bench with a serious gesture before a league match between his then team, Bayern Munich, and Wolfsburg, on April 29, 2017 in Wolfsburg, north of Germany
Carlo Ancelotti has rejected the position of Italy coach, vacant since November following the elimination of the ‘Azzurra’ in the World Cup repechage, according to Italian sports media reported on Sunday.
The Corriere dello Sport and the Gazzetta dello Sport point out that Ancelotti, without a team since being fired from his position at Bayern Munich last autumn, made known on Saturday his refusal to those responsible for the Italian Federation (FIGC) .
On Tuesday, most of the Italian sports media were referring to a meeting the night before in a hotel in Rome between Ancelotti, Roberto Fabbricini, member of the Federation, and Alessandro Costacurta, exjugador of Milan in charge of the matter of the new coach.
These means ensured that Ancelotti would accept the proposal.
In addition to the former Real Madrid coach or the PSG, the other names that FIGC shuffles are those of Roberto Mancini (Zenit St. Petersburg), Antonio Conte (Chelsea) and Claudio Ranieri (Nantes).
Squadra Azzura is without a coach since the departure of Gian Piero Ventura after the historic elimination against Sweden.
While waiting for the official nomination of the coach, Luigi Di Biagio, coach of the U-21, occupies the position on an interim basis.
